Tilapia has got to be my favorite fish mainly because of it’s mild flavor and growing up, my mom would cook fried tilapia – bones and all – served with white rice and sweet chili dipping sauce.  Fried tilapia is actually one of the first dishes I have tried -and failed miserably -making on my own when I was younger.  Apparently, I was too impatient to heat the pan and oil thoroughly so as to avoid the fish from sticking.  My dad took over the frying and he didn’t mind doing the dirty work so he can have a perfectly looking fried tilapia on his plate for dinner…READ MORE

with-titleThe weather was so nice all week and I just feel so happy wearing lighter clothes and sandals for a change.  Walking around, I see blooming cherry blossoms and tulips along the sidewalks and people’s backyards, and people walking their kids or their dogs enjoying the sunshine.  I love this time of the year. Unfortunately, we couldn’t visit the tulip festival in Mt. Vernon because my husband and I had been busy (You can see some photos from last year on my previous post) …READ MORE…

Nutella thumbprint cookies

Around October last year, I went to the Philippines to visit my family.  15-hour flight is no fun, especially when you are scared of heights and turbulence, but I just focus on the excitement of seeing my family to endure the long flights and transfers. When you visit the Philippines, you will probably see a lot of boxes on the conveyor belts and push carts being pushed around by filipinos coming home from abroad …read more…

Cucumber onion salad topped with roasted sesame seeds

I just love our Capitol hill neighborhood, not only because I can get the most amazing burger in Seattle a few blocks away, but also Sushi Maki is right around the corner. Sushi Maki is a hole in the wall Japanese place good for take outs.  My husband and I crave for sushi at least twice a month and this place is very convenient and and they offer one of the best sushis I’ve ever had. I have been away from this blog for a few weeks because I was preparing for  my trip to the Philippines.  Now that I’m here, I can’t wait to show you why I love my home country so much!  Blogging all the way from the Philippines!!
